General information
Plavix is a medicine, prescribed to diminish the risk of heart attacks and strokes caused by blood clots is increased in patients with a recent history of stroke, heart attach and peripheral vascular disease, to prevent ischemic disorders like myocardial infarction, stroke, thrombosis of peripheral arteries and others. This medicine inhibits aggregation of platelets (clotting) and dilates coronary vessels.
Directions
This medicine should be taken with or without food once daily.
Precautions
Don't use this drug with an aspirin or some NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) or with blood thinners. Therefore, you should talk with your doctor about the precautions and warnings that may appeared, such as bloody stools, vomiting or blood's cough.
Contraindications
The use of PLAVIX is contraindicated in the following conditions: hypersensitivity, severe liver failure, acute bleeding, ulcer of stomach or duodenum, ulcerous colitis, tuberculosis and other diseases predisposing to bleeding, pregnancy, breastfeeding, neonatal period.
Possible side affect
Bleeding in stomach or guts, hemorrhagic stroke, neuropenia, thrombocytopenia, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, gastritis, constipation, ulcers in gastrointestinal tract, diarrhoea, allergy.
Drug interaction
Don't take Plavix with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs as it may cause an excessive bleeding.
Missed dose
It is important to take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you miss a dose and it is almost time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose.
verdose
Symptoms of a overdose are vomiting, feeling exhausted or shortness of breath, and signs of blood in your stools or vomit, diarrhea, rush, itching. In case of serious manifestation of these adverse reactions call your doctor immediately.
Storage
Store this medication at room temperature between 15-30 C (59-86 F).
