Orlistat is a medicine prescribed for weight loss treatment. It belongs to the group of lipase inhibitors. It works directly in the stomach and doesn't influence the hormonal balance in the brain. It can be prescribed for persons with such health problems as high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol levels. It works blocking absorption of fats and reducing the number of calories you get from a meal.
Directions
It is recommended to take the medicine as it was prescribed by your doctor. Usually the recommended dose is 120 mg 3 times per day.

Precautions
Before starting your treatment with Orlistat please inform your doctor if you have a chronic malabsorption syndrome, or gallbladder problems, kidney stones, if you have anorexia or bulimia, if you have diabetes,if you take cyclosporine, or any other weight-loss medicine
Contraindications
The patients with the following conditions can't use Orlistat: pregnancy and breastfeeding, malabsorption, kidney problems,reduced gallbladder function (e.g. after cholecystectomy).
Possible side effect
Common side effects may include: allergic reaction, oily spotting in your undergarments; orange or brown colored oil in your stool; oily or fatty stools; loose stools, or an urgent need to go to the bathroom, inability to control bowel movements; gas with discharge, an oily discharge; stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rectal pain; an increased number of bowel movements; loss of appetite, weakness, clay-colored stools, dark urine, itching, or jaundice, problems with your teeth or gums; cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, sneezing, cough; headache, back pain; fever, chills, sore throat, flu symptoms; mild skin rash.

Drug interaction
Orlistat interacts with the following medicines: Cyclosporine and Warfarin.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time of the next intake just skip it and go back to your schedule.
Overdose
If you think you have overdosed the medicine seek emergency medical help at once.
Storage
Store the medicine at room temperature between 20-25 C (68-77 F).
