Product Description:
General information
Feldene is in a group of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. Piroxicam is used to treat pain or inflammation caused by arthritis.
Directions
Take this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Take this medication by mouth usually once daily with a full glass of water. If stomach upset occurs while taking this medication, take it with food, milk, or an antacid. The recommended dose is 20 mg. It may take up to 2 weeks of using this medicine before your symptoms improve.
Precautions
Before taking Feldene, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have polyps in your nose, asthma, heart disease, heart attack, bleeding, liver or kidney disease. Do not drink alcohol. Alcohol can increase the risk of stomach bleeding caused by piroxicam. Avoid exposure to sunlight or artificial UV rays. Do not use any other over-the-counter cold, allergy, or pain medication without first asking your doctor.
Contraindications
Do not use this medication if you are allergic to piroxicam, aspirin or other NSAIDs, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Possible side effect
Get emergency medical help if you have chest pain, fever, hives, bloody stools, swelling of your face, lips, urinating less than usual, seizure, difficulty breathing, problems with vision or balance. Less serious side effects may include: ringing in your ears, skin itching, bloating, blurred vision, upset stomach, dizziness, diarrhea, gas.
Drug interactions
Before taking Feldene, tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following drugs: lithium, steroids (prednisone), blood thinner (warfarin), methotrexate, diuretics (furosemide), ACE inhibitors (ramipril, captopril, lisinopril, enalapril), non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (meloxicam, flurbiprofen), antidepressants (citalopram, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine). Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, minerals, herbal products.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. Skip the missed dose if it is time for your next scheduled dose. Don't take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
If you think you have overdosed the medicine seek emergency medical help at once. The overdose symptoms are stomach pain, nausea, fainting, drowsiness, bloody stools, coma, vomiting.
Storage
Store the medicine at room temperature between 68-77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
